Potassium Iodo-platinate, K2PtI6

Potassium Iodo-platinate, K2PtI6, crystallises in black cubes having a metallic lustre. It readily dissolves in water, yielding a wine-red solution. When dilute, the solution is not stable, a deposit of platinum tetra-iodide being obtained on prolonged standing.
