Potassium Selenocyanoplatinate, K₂Pt(CNSe)₆

Potassium Selenocyanoplatinate, K₂Pt(CNSe)₆, is obtained by mixing solutions of potassium chlor-platinate and selenocyanate.8 It crystallises in hemimorphic rhombic crystals which appear red by transmitted light, and black by reflected light. The parameters are 7:

a: b: с = 0.5989: 1: 0.9565.

Density 3.377 at 10.2° C.

The dihydrate, K₂Pt(CNSe)₆.2H₂O, yields trigonal scalenohedral crystals.
